J.W. Waterhouse was a Victorian painter who lived from 1849-1917. He made paintings of women mostly, and the majority of them were women from mythology and stories. His paintings are shamelessly romantic, full of color and shadow not to mention sensuality and (Victorian) repressed sexuality .
I don't really have much to say -- there are a lot of websites online with biographical info and other analysis. I just like his paintings.
